On 4 October Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov together with the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Kazan Aircraft Plant after Gorbunov, which is the branch of the Tupolev Company, and got acquainted with modernization of technical capacities of the enterprise carried out within the state financing programme, mainly financed by the complex programme of the Russian aircraft branch development by 2030.
Modernization of the Kazan Plant has become the largest in the aircraft branch in the modern history of Russia with nine out of 24 planned facilities already commissioned and 15 at differing degrees of readiness. After commissioning of all planned facilities the plant will reach the new production level and considerably decrease time for manufacture of commercial and military planes.
The Russian Minister looked round the TU-214 mechanical assembly and final assembly shops and at the flight test station he was shown the Tu-214 lab, the first completely Russia manufactured plane which is used to test a number of plane units by the programme of complete import replacement and further modernization and development of the Tu-214 platform.
The plant administration reported about work done in wide inter-branch cooperation which made it possible to prepare the industrial base for manufacture of the modernized strategic Tu-160M missile carrier.
