Farid Mukhametshin elected the Chairman of Tatarstan State Council and Yuriy Kamaltynov and Marat Akhmetov – his deputies

On 20 September the members of the Tatarstan State Council elected Farid Mukhametshin the Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council by a secret e-ballot procedure.

Before the election procedure the right to open and preside the meeting was given to the oldest member Marat Galeev according to the Article 73 of Tatarstan Constitution.

Addressing participants of the meeting, the Council Member Aleksey Sozinov said: “The KPRF and the One Russia fractions propose to consider Khafiz Mirgalimov and Farid Mukhametshin for the position of the Council Chairman,” and informed that there were no any other candidates.

‘I am sincerely grateful that my candidacy has been filed again. However this is not just a wish of the members but it was also proved by results of the elections. People have given a kind assessment to our work and the One Russia had landslide. It is pleasant to see that the head count of other parties has increased in the parliament,” Farid Mukhametshin said and stated that work of the Council should be open and publicly disclosed.

The meeting also unanimously elected Yuriy Kamaltynov and Marat Akhmetov Deputy Chairmen of the Council and Lilya Mavrina – its Secretary.
