On 4 September, speaking at his meeting with the Prime-Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the Prime Minister for the reception given to the delegation from Tatarstan during its visit to Kuala-Lumpur in August this year.

In his turn, the Malaysian Prime Minister said: “I am so happy to see you again. Our last meeting passed in a very friendly atmosphere. You inspired us to come here with a large delegation.”

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the trade, economic and investments cooperation is a priority for interaction of Tatarstan and Malaysia. He reminded that despite the growth of the mutual trade turnover by 5.5 times last year, its amount is still very low and makes only 61m dollars US. “As an export-oriented republic with the powerful industrial capacity Tatarstan is ready to deliver the broadest range of products,” he said.

The parties also discussed cooperation of Malaysia with large enterprises and Rustam Minnikhanov said: “As we have agreed with you in Malaysia, large Russian companies have also come to meet me today. They can be your partners.”

Anwar Ibrahim thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for his active personal participation in building up cooperation between businesses of both countries.
