On 30 August the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov accompanied by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and the regional Minister for Youth Affairs Rinat Sadykov visited a new children’s park Yelmay (Smile) and the improved Fucks garden in Kazan.
The Karl Fucks garden, laid out in 1896 in the historical part of the city and overlooking the opposite bank of the Kazanka River, keeps the memory of and tells about the famous Rector of Kazan Imperial University. During the improvement work the historical structure of the garden was preserved and all historical elements, including cast-iron benches, were restored.
Then the Rais of the republic went down to the new children’s park Yelmay (Smile)- a comfortable and safe place for children and their parents on the Kazanka Embankment, which is one of 12 parks to be improved according to the strategy of the Kazanka River development.
The center of the new city space is a unique children’s playground divided into zones for children of various ages and the park also has a pavilion for various activities, a “green maze and a large stage.
After having looked round the park and its sites, Rustam Minnikhanovm speaking from the stage, congratulated everyone with the Day of the Republic and the Day of the City. ”In this festive day we are opening a remarkable children’s park. I would like to thank our designers and construction workers for high quality of the work done. Special words of thanks to our sponsors who provided support during the implementation of the project. But the most important are our children. We hope it will be interesting for you here and this park will become your favourite recreation place,” he said.
In his turn Ilsur Metshin thanked the Leadership of the republic for having built the new public space.
