On 29 August the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev accompanied by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, the Chairman of the regional Committee for Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites Ivan Guschin, the Mufti of the republic Kamil Samigullin and the imam-hatyb of the Al Marjani Mosque Mansur Djalyaletdinov, visited the Al Marjani Mosque built in the first half of the 18 century and which is one of the first stone mosques in the capital of the republic.
During restoration work of the mosque which was done in two stages, the conservation architects retuned its historical baroque appearance, replaced HVAC systems, renovated water and electricity supply networks, and restored the décor and windows and decoration metal pieces.
Rutsam Minnikhanov looked round rooms of the renovated mosque and visited the museum dedicated to the Al Marjani history and famous imams, including the Tatar Muslim theologist and educator Shigabutdin Marjani who served in the mosque in 1850-1889.
The Rais of the republic was also informed that mosque women have organized a workshop where they manufacture things such as camouflage nets and trench candles needed for soldiers of the special military operation.
