On 26 August, speaking at his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Viktor Karankevich on the sidelines of the Tatarstan Oil and Gas Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the republic highly appreciates an opportunity of broadening interaction with Belarus within the framework of friendly Russia-Belarus relations. He stressed that presidents of both countries actively support the development of ties at the regional level.
“Our trade turnover is rather handsome but there is definitely always a room for improvement. For many years we successfully cooperate with such Belarus companies as the Belneftekhim, Minsk Tractor Plant and others. Most of agricultural machinery used in our republic is manufactured in Belarus. Our companies are also present in your country. In particular, the RariTEK Company actively works with your machine-building enterprises and there many other examples,” the Rais of the republic said.
He stated that Belarus buses and trams working in Kazan have proved themselves to be very good and the direct flights between Kazan and Minsk help to develop tourist ties. Rustam Minnikhanov also mentioned prospects of cooperation in the petrochemical, machine-building, light and other spheres of industry as well as in transport and agribusiness.
Participants of the meeting also discussed issues of prospects of joint projects and expanding the amounts of mutual trade and Viktor Karankevich stated that Tatarstan is an important trade partner of Belarus. He emphasized that these friendly ties are time-proven and there are all opportunities for their development.
