On 20 August during his working trip to Samara, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with representatives of Tatar National and Cultural Autonomy and heads and representatives of Tatar national and cultural amalgamations of Samara region.
Speaking on behalf of all organizations, the Member of the World Tatars Congress Fakhrutdin Kanyukayev, who is also the President of Samara regional creative public organization Duslyk (Friendship) , informed that according to the last census in the region there are 94 400 thousand of Tatars which makes 3.18% of the population of the region. He also said that Samara Tatar National and Cultural Autonomy started its work in 2010.
Welcoming participants of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov said that Samara region and Tatarstan have longtime good neighbourly relations and emphasized: “I would like to express my special gratitude to regional and local bodies and personally to the Acting Governor of the region Vyacheslav Fedorischev for continuous support of national and cultural demands of the Tatars.”
In his turn Vyacheslav Fedorischev thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for the attention he gives to the region and said: “You are a role model for us, young governors.”
He also stated that the Tatar community makes a substantial contribution into the development of Samara region.
