On 13 August in Kuala-Lumpur the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Malaysia, had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to Mister Anwar Ibrahim for hospitality given to the delegation of Tatarstan and said: “It is important that Russia-Malaysia contacts at the highest level are kept on a regular basis. Your country is a reliable partner of Russia.”
He reminded that Tatarstan has business contacts with a number of regions of Malaysia, in particular with the states of Johor and Sarawak.
Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov stated that even though the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Malaysia increased by five and a half times according to results of 2023, it is still rather low and makes 61m dollars US. He said that currently it is important to ramp up work on joint investments projects, those in agriculture having good prospects in particular.
“Certain agreements in deliveries of Tatarstan produce to your country and accreditation in the Halal sphere have been reached as results of a number of visits,” the Rais of Tatarstan informed and added that in September of the current year industrialists from the republic will take part in the International Exhibition of Agriculture, Horticulture and Agri-tourism in Malaysia.
