On 13 August the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Malaysia, paid a visit of courtesy to the King of Malaysia His Highness Sultan Ibrahim.
Welcoming the King of Malaysia, Rustam Minnikhanov especially emphasized that currently Russia and Malaysia are connected by strong ties of friendship, traditions of respect and trust.
“It is important that both countries are aimed at deepening fruitful cooperation,” he said.
During their conversation, both parties stated that it is important to ramp up joint investments projects in machine-building, construction, agriculture and IT. The International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum “, which every year Malaysia takes an active part in, was named as a good platform for setting up contacts, and the parties also stated the substantial contribution of the Strategic Vision Group of Russia-the Islamic World, which Rustam Minnikhanov heads by the errand from Russian President Vladimir Putin, into the strengthening relations and business contacts.
At their meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov and His Highness Sultan Ibrahim separately discussed the issue of Malaysia planning to join the BRICS, the XVI Summit of which will be held in Kazan on 22-24 October this year.
