On 9 August the Head of the Administration of Rais of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov, the Head of Vysokaya Gora region Ravil Khisamutdinov, the Chairman of the Coordination Council of regional Cabinet of Ministers for issues of war veterans of Afghanistan and other military officials of the republic, took part in a solemn ceremony of unveiling a monument “To Soldiers of Two Generations” made of bronze by Moscow sculptures Ilya Korotchenko and Roman Makarov and erected in the Settlement of Vysokaya Gora.
Speaking at the ceremony, Asgat Safarov said that the opening of the monument is the most important event in life of the region which can leave nobody untouched. “It is homage to heroes of our Fatherland and an example of courage for our growing generation. It is also symbolic that a WWII soldier hands in the Victory banner to a modern soldier,” he said and emphasized that from times immemorial Russia has been marked for the strong spirit, resilience and unity of all residents and especially in difficult periods of history.
The participants of the ceremony paid a minute's tribute of silence to the memory of fallen heroes and laid flowers to the monument.
