On August 7, at the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting of the regional organizing committee on preparation and ensuring Russia's presidency in the BRICS association in 2024, with participation of the Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and heads of regional ministries and departments.
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that in preparation for the BRICS summit in Kazan, a lot of organizational work is being carried out in close cooperation with the federal organizing committee and colleagues from federal ministries and departments. In the republic, coordination of preparations, including the activities of 14 working groups, is carried out by the operational headquarters under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister - head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan Shamil Gafarov.
The 16th BRICS summit will be held in Kazan on October 22-24, 2024. Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that in order to ensure public safety and for the convenience of citizens, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to declare October 22-24 non-working days in Kazan. In accordance with this document, the Decree of the Rais of Tatarstan has been prepared. Deputy Prime Minister - Head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan Shamil Gafarov emphasized that Kazan has solid experience in hosting major international events. In preparation for the BRICS summit, a lot of work is being done on urban and transport infrastructure, road and engineering repairs and city improvement. Security and anti-terrorist protection measures have been significantly strengthened.
Rustam Minnikhanov instructed to pay special attention to the preparation of hospitality infrastructure, as well as training of hotel personnel and improving their qualifications. Chairman of the State Committee of the Tatarstan for Tourism Sergey Ivanov reported that a special seminar will be organized for this purpose.
The Rais of Tatarstan added that in two weeks, on August 21, a meeting of the federal organizing committee will be held in Moscow, during which the readiness of the republic will be evaluated.
