Rais of Tatarstan visits the Cathedral Mosque of Simferopol

On 31 July the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov accompanied by the Head of the Muslims Religious Borad of the Crimea and Sevastopol Mufti Emirali Ablayev visited the Cathedral Mosque of Simferopol which is the chief and the largest mosque in ther Crimea and East Europe.

The capacity of its main prayer room is 1 800 people with additional 2 000 in the ziyadah. The minaret, which is as high as the 19-storey building, has one main dome, 8 small domes and 150 marbles columns.

Inside the mosque is decorated by elements of Old Osman and Crimea-Tatars ornaments, calligraphy and surah from the Sacred Quran. The domes and the vaults of the mosque are decorated by the yellow tulip picture.
