Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan attaches special attention to development of young geologists’ movement

On 12 July in Almetyevsk the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Russian Minister of Energy Sergey Tzivilev took part in a solemn ceremony of opening the X Regional Open Field Subject Olympiad of young geologists organized at the Solnechny (Sunny) children’s recreation camp. 

This year more than 380 participants from Belarus, Perm region, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan are taking part in it, and talking to them, Sergey Tsivilev said: “It is symbolic that in the day of the Oil Summit we are giving start to the Field Subject Olympiad of young geologists. You have chosen an interesting and prestigious vocation. I congratulate you and wish you success!” 

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the republic attaches special attention to the development of young geologists’ movement. “Profession of the geologist – is a vocation of a man from his childhood. We have specialized schools to study geology where kids actively participate in science. We are grateful to our oil-workers for supporting this movement. I am sure there will be no shortage of geologists in Tatarstan We highly appreciate this vocation and will continue supporting it.” 

Then Rustam Minnikhanov and Sergey Tsivilev handed in a number of awards for the contribution into the development of children’s and youth geology movement. 

Currently there are 40 specialized schools for studying geology in Tatarstan and the total number of schoolchildren involved in the geological movement reaches 1 500 kids.
