On July 10, at the Korston Entertainment Complex, speaking at an opening of the meeting of the BRICS Ministers for Disaster Management with participation of the Russian Emergencies Minister Aleksandr Kurenkov, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that the modern conditions require a new look at the entire civil defense system and it is important that at such a time the BRICS countries strengthen interaction.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked for choosing Kazan as the venue for such an important event and for the support in its organization. “This is a great honor and responsibility for us. Tatarstan has long been an important link between the West and the East. It’s gratifying that despite the difficult situation, you found the time and opportunity to come to our republic,” the Rais of Tatarstan said. He emphasized that Tatarstan is a dynamically developing region of Russia with a modern innovation infrastructure. Industry is represented by such sectors as oil production, oil refining, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering and aircraft manufacturing. All this, in turn, predetermines a high level of man-made and natural risks.
“Tatarstan has accumulated considerable experience in prevention and elimination of emergencies, both man-made and natural. We have modern fire and rescue equipment, and most importantly - human potential with high professional knowledge. The regional programme “Protection of the population and territories from emergencies, ensuring fire safety and the safety of people on water bodies is successfully implemented"», Minnikhanov said.
He added that the republic has a huge experience in organizing and holding international events.
In his turn, Aleksander Kurenkov noted that the BRICS countries have all opportunities for joint efficient work aimed at ensuring international stability and security, improving the well-being of the population.
