Rais of Tatarstan: We will use our efforts to multiply trade turnover with Tajikistan

On 7 June, speaking at his meeting with Tajikistan First Deputy Prime Minister Hokim Kholiqzoda on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said: “We highly appreciate cooperation between our republics within the framework of Russia-Tajikistan relations.” 

He stated the importance of a continuous dialogue of Presidents of two countries which makes it possible to create good opportunities for cooperation at the inter-regional level. Rustam Minnikhanov asked to pass words of gratitude to Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon for his visit to Kazan and personal participation in the opening ceremony of the Games of the Future.   

Speaking about economic cooperation, the Rais of the republic said that the amount of trade turnover between the republics made only 36m dollars last year and assured: “We will use our efforts to multiply it.” 

He told about economic and industrial capacity of Tatarstan and those spheres where the trade turnover can be increased. 

When Russian Minister of Construction and Housing Utilities Sector Irek Fayzullin joined the meeting a little later, its participants discussed issues of organizing systemic work in attracting migrants into the spheres of construction and housing utilities sector and their education. 

In his turn Hokim Kholiqzoda thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for the meeting and said: “Russia is the strategic partner of Tajikistan. We have a good rate of growth of the trade turnover between our countries. There is a lot of untapped potential, including that with Tatarstan.”
