Rustam Minnikhanov: Cooperation of Tatarstan and Khakassia has a big potential

On 6 June, speaking at his meeting with the Head of the Government of Khakassia Valentin Konovalov .on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said: ”Cooperation between our republics possesses potential of development in many spheres. Tatars the same as Khakas have Turkic roots and we speak similar languages.” 

He reminded that trade and economic relations between the republics develop on the basis of the Cooperation Agreement signed in 2016, with Tatarstan delivering to Khakassia KAMAZ spare parts, diesel fuel, petrol, tires and food products and receiving coal and Macgogel. 

“Currently our trade turnover is not very big just 240m rubles. We are ready to increase deliveries of trucks, tires and consumers goods,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and said he is ready to share experience in working with investors, supporting entrepreneurship and establishing industrial parks with his colleagues.   

In his turn Valentin Konovalov stated that the signed agreement enlivened economic relations. “Currently we are establishing a special economic zone and of course Tatarstan experience is very helpful for us,” he said. 

He also emphasized that it is very important to continue work in exchanging experience in issues of preservation of culture and traditions. 

In the end of the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov and Valentin Konovalon signed an Activity Plan on implementation of the agreement on trade-economic, scientific-technical and social and cultural cooperation between Governments of the republics for 2025-2027.
