Rustam Minnikhanov as a member of Russian delegation is taking part in a meeting of the Council of the Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan

On 27 May the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov is taking part in a meeting of the Council of the Regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan held in Tashkent with participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Participants of the meeting will discuss the development of cooperation between regions of their countries.

Tatarstan is among leading regions of Russia in implementation of joint projects with Uzbekistan and according to results of the last year Tatarstan-Uzbekistan trade turnover grew by 27% and made 370m US dollars. There is the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Kazan and the representative office of Tatarstan has been working in Tashkent since 1992. On top of that there are direct flights from Kazan to Tashkent, Samarkand and Fergana.

A number of joint projects have been implemented in the two last years, namely the chemical and industrial technical park Chirchik – the joint project of Tatarstan Khimgrad Company and Uzbekistan partners, the branch of Kazan Federal University and a technical park in Jizzakh and the Center of Simulation Medicine of Kazan Federal University.

Currently there are two industrial sites under construction in Bukhara and Navoi.
