On 27 May at his meeting in Tashkent with Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Uzbekistan as a member of a Russian delegation headed by the President of the country Vladimir Putin, stated that Uzbekistan is a strategic partner of the Russian Federation and a visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin after his inauguration proves this.
“Leaders of our countries attach special attention to inter-regional cooperation of two states and support our initiatives, “he emphasized and informed that according to results of the last year Tatarstan-Uzbekistan trade turnover grew by 27% and made 370m US dollars.
In his turn Abdulla Aripov highly appreciated the personal contribution of Rustam Minnikhanov into the development of Tatarstan-Uzbekistan relations and strengthening the cooperation of Russia and Uzbekistan in the whole.
“All regions of our country want to work with Tatarstan. When there is a necessity of exchanging experience with regions of Russia all our regions want to study the experience of Tatarstan,” he said.
At the meeting the parties also emphasized the importance of holding the Council of the Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan at the level of heads of states.
