On 23 May in the Nizhnekamskneftekhim Company Directorate building, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the SIBUR Director General Mikhail Karisalov held a meeting on issues of further development of the production.
At the meeting the Rais of Tatarstan was informed that the Nizhnekamskneftekhim will build two production lines for manufacturing ethylbenzene and styrene and polystyrene with the planned capacity of 350 thousand tonnes of ethylbenzene, 400 thousand tonnes of styrene and 250 thousand tonnes of polystyrene a year accordingly.
Currently the company is signing contracts for delivery of equipment and materials with the commissioning and start-up phase planned for 2028.
Rustam Minnikanov was also told about the localization of the hexane production plant, the construction of which began in 2022. Starting from 2025 the plant will produce 50 thousand tonnes a year which will cover the demand of petrochemical branch of Russia in the component which previously was only imported to Russia.
The total cost the SIBUR projects under implementation and in its portfolio is about 1.6 trillion rubles and Nizhmnekamsk is one of the main centers of its investments.
In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov stated the importance of training specialists including foreign ones. “The educational part in extremely important and we together with you should train specialists at vocational colleges and resource centers. There is a very positive example of the Alabuga-Polytekh which has the proper work format,” he said.
Participants of the meeting also considered a large scale plan of the SIBUR on improvement of labor conditions in Nizhnekamsk and Kazan, such as the reconstruction of buildings which were not renovated for more than 20 years. The amount of investments of the Nizhnekamsk programme exceeds 10bn rubles and the work is planned to be finished in 2025.
