Rustam Minnikhanov and the Family Tree Festival: Today it is important to develop family values and to preserve family history

On 22 May the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov attended a solemn ceremony of the summary round of the VI Family Tree Festival “The echo of centuries in history of a family,” held in the Tatar State Academic Theatre after G.Kamal in Kazan. 

Each of six families which reached the final round of the festival, which started in February this year, presented their family tree by a bright concert performance, demonstrated national costumes and told about their customs and traditions. In the foyer of the theater the families placed expositions dedicated to their family history.   

Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that in the Year of the Family, announced by Russian President, it is especially important to place attention on the development of family values and preservation of the family history. “The family is without any doubt the major value for every man. We attach special attention to strengthening  traditional family values and the Family Tree Festival facilitates this,” he said and thanked organizers and participants of the festival for great attention they place on the family tree and Tatarstan history.

“You are the foundation of our republic, country and our future. We are proud of you!” he concluded.
