On 17 May on the sidelines of the XV KazanForum, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Board Chairman and the Director General of the DP World Company Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem.
DP World (Dubai Port World) – is one of the largest world logistics companies in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that specializes in cargo logistics, port terminal operations, maritime services and free trade zones and handles 70 million containers that are brought in by around 70,000 vessels annually. This equates to roughly 10% of global container traffic accounted for by their 82 marine and inland terminals present in over 40 countries.
Speaking at the meeting, the Rais of the republic stated that at its level Tatarstan actively facilitates strengthening of Russia-Emirates relations. “The UAE are one of the most attractive partners for developing economic connections,” he said.
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the Administration of the country attaches special; importance to the development of transport corridors, in particular the North-South logistics route. This project is very important for Tatarstan too and the republic develops necessary transport infrastructure and builds large logistics facilities, he added.
“You are the Head of one of the largest port operators and we will be happy to be your partners,” the Rais of the republic concluded.
In his turn Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said that it is his first trip to Kazan and he was very impressed by the industrial potential of the republic. “Tatarstan has a huge logistics potential. You can go by the Volga to the Caspian Sea and farther to India. Water trade routes are the cheapest and efficient. That is why 90% of the world trade uses water ways. At the same time we are interested in developing industrial parks,” he concluded.
In the end of the meeting the parties discussed promising cooperation spheres.
