Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in a meeting of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin with Minister of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman Said bin Mohammed Al-Saqri

On 15 May on the sidelines of the XV KazanForum the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a meeting of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin with the Minister of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman Said bin Mohammed Al-Saqri where the participants of the meeting discussed issues of further cooperation in a number of spheres the expansion of contacts in economy, science and culture.

Speaking at the meeting, Marat Khusnullin stated that our country cherishes good long term and strategic relations with Oman and informed that today is one of i8mportant economic partners of Russia with their mutual trade turnover having increased by 60% and exceeding 400m US dollars in 2023. There are big prospects in cooperation in spheres of tourism, energetics, construction and logistics, in particular in the project of the North-South transport corridor, he said.

Said bin Mohammed Al-Saqri also confirmed that the Russia-Oman trade turnover grew substantially but there is an opportunity to ramp it up much more. “We highly appreciate the current cooperation level and will be glad to expand it also in new spheres,” he said.

The Oman Minister of Economy also stated that he is happy to meet Rustam Minnikhanov and discuss with him opportunities for economic cooperation in various spheres.

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov said: “Tatarstan attaches great attention to the development of ties with Oman aimed at strengthening the Russia-Oman relations. I am sure that the gained positive experience of bilateral cooperation will facilitate further development of good relations between Russia and Oman.”

Having informed about main branches of economy of Tatarstan, the Rais of the republic said that today the region is interested in such spheres as Halal industry and Islamic finances and added:   “We have good opportunities for developing our cooperation.”
