On 15 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Dmitriy Volvach, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Libya Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh , the Under Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Economy Abdulla Al Saleh and the Director General of the Islamic Halal Services Chamber Ashraf El Tanbuoly took part in a ceremony of opening the XV KazanForum and the VII Russia Halal Expo Exhibition at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center.
Speaking at the ceremony, Aleksey Pesoshin emphasized that for many years the KazanForum has served as a platform for a dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding between Russia and the Islamic world. “Today we are celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Forum and we have passed a substantial way forward in the development of our relations. Today we can proudly talk about mutual respect, trust and strive for joint prosperity,” he said and stated that the Islamic world has always been and is one of the most important economic partners in the world for Russia.
He informed that in the last three year the trade turnover between Russia and the OIC countries grew by 37% per cent and made 156bn US dollars and invited all guests and participants of the Forum to visit the international Russia Halal Expo Exhibition.
In his turn, the Head of the Libyan Foreign Ministry thanked organizers of the Forum and the exhibition for the high level of the events. “Presence of our delegation at these events reflects the interest of Libya in comprehensive strengthening of business cooperation and development of concrete programmes and interaction projects,” he said.
The Under Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Economy Abdulla Al Saleh informed that in 2023 the amount of trade turnover between Russia and the UAE was 11.2bn US dollars and emphasized: “I am sure this Forum will facilitate further strengthening of our business ties.”
The Director General of the Islamic Halal Services Chamber Ashraf El Tanbuoly stated that Halal industry has long expanded beyond Muslim countries and the current Halal produce market is estimated to be more than 2 trillion US dollars. “There is no doubt that Russia has all opportunities for becoming an important player in this market,” he added.
After a ceremony of cancellation of a memorial postage stamp, Aleksey Pesoshin and other honorary guests got acquainted with the exposition of the Russia Halal Expo which is the largest exhibition of economic, scientific-technological cooperation of Russian regions and the OIC countries in Russia. This year it is held with participation of 11 countries of the world and 17 Russian regions.
