On 8 May, on the eve of the Great Victory Holiday, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov attended Kazan Gunpowder Plant where he laid flowers to the memorial dedicated to workers of the Plant who fought in the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
After that the Rais of the republic talked to old stagers of the enterprise and workers of the home front and emphasized that during the WWII the plant made a huge contribution into the Victory and stated good prospects of the plant development. “Were it not for your plant, it would be very difficult! I express deep respects to you and words of gratitude. Currently you are undergoing a large scale modernization, turning your plant into the most modern one. I congratulate you with the Victory Day,” he said.
During WWII the Kazan Gunpowder Plant manufactured 130 thousand tonnes of various kinds of gunpowder and more than 2 thousand of its workers went to the front directly from its shops. For its Valorous and Selfless Labor during the WWII the enterprise has been awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st class and 5 448 of its workers received the title of “The Homefront Worker”.
