On 7 April the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony of inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin held in the Great Kremlin Palace in Moscow.
The ceremony started with solemn entering of the Russian State flag, the Presidential Standard, the Constitution of Russia and the Badge of the President of Russia to the Andreevskiy Hall of the Palace, where according to the Article 82 of the Russian Constitution and in the presence of members of the Federation Council, State Duma and judges of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin took the oath to people of Russia.
The Chairman of the Constitutional Court Valetry Zorkin announced about accession of Vladimir Putin to Presidency.
In his speech Vladimir Putin thanked Russian citizens for the support given at Presidential elections. “I have just taken the presidential oath. Its text expresses the concentrated meaning of the highest intended purpose of the head of the state – to preserve Russia and to serve people. I understand it is a huge honor, responsibility and a sacred duty. This was what defined the meaning and content of my work in previous years. I assure you that from now onward interests and safety of people of Russia will be the highest consideration,” Vladimir Putin stated.
