On 26 April in the Government Offices Building of the Kazan Kremlin, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with representatives of Tatar intelligentsia.
Before the meeting the Rais of the republic looked round an exposition of youth Tatar journals and books for children and talked to young actors of the Apush children’s Tatar theatre studio.
Welcoming participants of the meeting, in his speech Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated everyone with the Mother tongue Day and stated that the republic attaches great attention to issues of preservation of Tatar language and national traditions and cultureт. He informed that great work in done by a special commission of the regional State Council headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Council Marat Akhmetov and added: “Due to its efficient work the Commission gained large authority. We can see positive outcomes of your work.”
During the meeting its participants discussed a number of burning topics including development of creative projects of children’s and youth teams, such as scaling up the experience of the Apush theatre studio, a possibility of opening Shayan Cartoon studio and a media school for national youtubers of ethnicities living in the republic. Rustam Minnikhanov supported the idea and said: “It is a very promising sphere. It is extremely important to work with young people.”
The Chief Editor of the Idel journal Ramziya Galimova and the Chief Editor of the Salavat Kupere Zilya Fayzullina told about work done in finding locations to sell periodicals to young people and implementation of a unique multimedia journal with games and video. The Rais of the republic supported both projects.
In the end of the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov once again emphasized the importance of preservation and development of languages of all ethnicities living in Tatarstan and concluded: “All tools are very important for this activity. We need books, cartoons and theatres. But the most important role in preservation of the native language is played by a family. If parents speak their native language, their children will be acquainted with spiritual values of their people.”
