On 21 April during his working trip to Uzbekistan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited sites of the Special Industrial Park “Bukhara complex of development of Industry”.
During his official visit to Kazan on October 5 last year, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was demonstrated the experience of Tatarstan in work of special economic zones, which caused his great interest. The MOU signed as a result of this presentation envisages consultations in special economic zones construction to be given by Tatarstan to its Uzbekistan colleagues.
In February of the current year a special industrial park was established in Bukhara by a decision of Uzbekistan President. During his visit to it today Rustam Minnikhanov was shown the Master plan of the development of the site with the total area of 1000 hectares. The park is located 20 kilometers away from the center of Bukhara and in 11 kilometers from an international airport with a railway branch passing by it. At the first stage it is planned to build an electricity supply substation, two industrial facilities, an administrative building, an educational center, the customs building and a truck service station.
Rustam Minnikhanov attracted attention to the fact that for successful implementation of the project it is important to attract residents already at the construction stage. Uzbekistan Minister of Construction Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, who accompanied Rustam Minnikhanov during his trip, informed that they are ready also to attract Tatarstan partners as residents.
“The most important here is an investor who will come. Today you must already have an idea who will be a tentative resident,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and added: ”The best option is to build everything custom-oriented - maybe even the investors themselves can build what they want.”
He specially emphasized that the terms of the Memorandum must be in force for the next ten years after opening of the special zone.
In his turn Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov assured that according to the errands from the Uzbekistan President, the facilities necessary for the launch of the special zone will be commissioned in cooperation with Tatarstan by the end of the current year.
