In the current year trees will be planted at the area of 1 400 hectares in Tatarstan

On 16 April, speaking at a briefing in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Minister of Forestry Ravil Kuzyurov informed that the republic is planning to carry out work in forest reproduction and forestation at the area of 2 500 hectares.

He reminded that the main key indicators of the regional project “Preservation of forests in Tatarstan” are the ratio of the forest reproduction and forestation areas to the area of the chopped down and dead forests plants and amount of wild fire losses and said as this years is the last for the project this ratio should be 100 per cent. “The task set forth by the Federal Forestry Agency for the current year will be fulfilled. During several past years we overachieved this indicator, making it 158% in 2021 and 154% in 2022,” he clarified.

Ravil Kuzyurov also told about work to be done in protective afforestation on the area of 2 100 hectares which do not belong to the forest fund and the work in compensatory afforestation on 500 hectares to be fulfilled by timber producers.

“Thus the total area to be covered by forest reproduction and forestation work in the republic in the current year makes more than 5 thousand hectares,” he concluded.
