On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a meeting of the regional committee for preparation of BRICS Games held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin, his First Deputy Azat Kadyrov, the Minister of Sports of the republic Vladimir Leonov, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and representatives of regional ministries and directorates.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of the country for the opportunity of hosting such a large international event in Kazan. “We have all necessary resources for successful implementation of this large-scale project,” he said and reminded about the meeting of the federal committee co-chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitriy Chernyshenko and the Aid to Russian President Igor Levitin and held in Kazan in January this year.
This meeting approved the plan of activities for preparation and holding the BRICS Games and Rustam Minnikhanov said: ”Today we are carrying out active work for its implementation, having organized and approved the operational headquarters staff and working groups for the Games preparations. All Ministries and Directorates are involved into work as much as possible and are aimed at holding the event at the highest organizational level. We highly appreciate the confidence vested to us.”
Oleg Matytsin gave high evaluation to readiness of Kazan for holding the BRICS Games. “The capital of Tatarstan has huge experience in organizing both international and all-Russia sports events. Just recently it successfully hosted the first multi-sports tournament “The Games of the Future” and there is no doubt that the BROCS Games will become another reason for pride,” he said.
Vladimir Leonov informed that the Games will be held in Kazan from 10 to 26 June 2024 and reported about sports programme and facilities hosting the Games as well as about cultural and excursions programmes which will be organized for guests and participants.
The members of the organizational committee also discussed issues of ensuring security of participants and guests the Games, preparation of sports facilities and development of cultural and volunteers’ programmes.
