Rustam Minnikhanov looks round facilities of the Kazan Virgin Monastery

On 14 March, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov accompanied by the Cyril, Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan, the Head of the Office of the Rais of the Republic Asgat Safarov, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin, the Chairman of the regional Committee on Protection of Cultural Sites Ivan Guschin and the First Deputy Chairman of the Kazan Municipality Denis Kalinkin, looked round the Kazan Virgin Monastery and got acquainted with the state of some facilities located here. In particular, Rustam Minnikhanov was shown the building of the Nikola of Tula Church and the Father Superior’s house, the sisterhood house and the church school and told about the history of their reconstruction.

In is considered that the Nikola of Tula Church was one of the first churches to be erected in Kazan after 1552 and till 2005 it housed tobacco factory shops. Currently the church as all other monastery facilities visited by Rustam Minnikhanov is in devastated condition and finances have been allocated on feasibility study for their reconstruction.

The Rais of the republic gave an errand to prepare documents for all visited facilities. “We need documents as we need to know how much money is needed for their reconstruction,”  he said and added: “Reconstruction of these facilities is pleasing to God.”
