On 8 March the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony of opening the international tennis table competitions and XXII open personal-team regional tennis table competitions held from 7 to 10 March in the settlement of Bogatyye Saby in Tatarstan.
The competitions are held for 22 years on the row and 278 strongest athletes from Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan and China are taking part in them this year.
Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the level and importance of the competition is growing every year. “I am happy to welcome all athletes at this traditional table tennis tournament. This kind of sports is very popular in our republic and today about 50 thousand people do it. Holding these competitions is a big event for us and we wish all athletes success and beautiful victories and the fans – bright emotions and unforgettable impressions,” he said.
The Head of the Saby region thanked all tournament players and organizers and congratulated women-athletes with the International Women’s Day.
Later the same day during his working trip to Bogatyye Saby, Rustam Minnihanov visited the regional central library built in 1964 and which underwent the complete capital overhaul in 2023. As a result the library purchased new furniture and equipment and introduced a terminal for books check-in and check-out which readers can do themselves.
