On March 5, during his working visit to Moscow, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko, at which they discussed the results of the region’s work and key indicators of Tatarstan in ecology and environmental management.
They also discussed the issue of supporting forestry aimed at resolving the issue of carrying out forest care activities to preserve their useful functions.
In particular, Tatarstan has prepared a bill that will allow foresters to harvest overmature timber that is not in demand by tenants. Victoria Abramchenko supported the initiative and noted that the government will soon prepare a positive response to the draft law. Tatarstan can become a pilot region for testing such changes.
