Rustam Minnikhanov opens a new sports complex in Nizhnekamsk

On 4 March the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony of opening a new multi-functional sports  center ”SIBUR ARENA NK” in Nizhnekamsk.

The new facility set up as a successor of the Druzhba sports complex comprises the main block with the universal gym, stadium, and open sports grounds. The center is equipped with new inventory which makes it possible to do table tennis, handball, volleyball, basketball, mini-football, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics and fitness, increasing the capacity of the new center up to 432 thousand people a year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov stated that the SIBUR is not just successfully implementing industrial projects in Tatarstan but also is making a great contribution into the development of the republic. “I say words of gratitude to the SIBUR administration for this wonderful facility. It will be in great demand as Nizhnekamsk residents like sports very much. I am sure it is here that future champions will be trained. The city also has many vocational schools, colleges and universities and it is important for our students to have an opportunity of getting all kinds of sports services in one sports complex,” he emphasized. 

In his turn the Director General of the SIBUR Mikhail Karisalov said: “This is a real facility of the 21st century. It is a modern and comfortable complex. The building was built from a scratch. A large team of coaches and specialists begin their work here today. It has all conditions for those who love active and healthy life style.” 

The Head of Nizhnekamsk region of the republic Ramil Mullin, who also took part in the ceremony, thanked the administration of the republic and the SIBUR shareholders for their support given to the city.
