Rustam Minnikhanov gives a number of errands after the resulting XXVIII session of the Kazan City Duma

On 28 February, speaking at the resulting XXVIII session of the Kazan City Duma, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the team of the Kazan Mayor’s Office and the Mayor Ilsur Metshin for the high level of hospitality and huge work being done by Kazan during preparations and hosting the first International Multi-Sports Tournament “The Games of the Future” and reception given to athletes and guests of the tournament.

He reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin gave highly appreciated the preparation and hosting the Games and said: “The competitions will be going on till 3 March and we should maintain high level of hospitality and organization of events up to the departure of all participants and guests. “  “Huge work was done by our capital there are many guests and events. We represent not only Tatarstan, but also the whole of Russia. The heads of six countries were present at the opening of the tournament and this testifies about serious attention and trust to our republic,” he emphasized.

However, he clarified that the Games were just the beginning and reminded about other event to be hosted by Kazan in 2024, such as the KazanForum, the BRICS sports games and the summit of the heads of BICS countries and said: ”These events lay serious responsibility on the republic and the Kazan will be the center of all events. This is both special trust and huge responsibility.”

Rustam Minnikhanov reminded about the special military operation and thanked Ilsur Metshin, heads of enterprises and residents of the republic for nearly 1 400 tonnes of goods already sent to Lizichansk and Rubezhnoye from Kazan only.  

He briefly informed about social and economic results of Tatarstan in 2023 and emphasized: “The GRP of the republic was 1 trillion 300bn rubles. There no than many regions who exceeded the amount of 1 trillion. Of course all achieved results would be impossible without the support of the Head of our country and the Government.”

“Never before have we had such amounts of the federal support – both in the spheres of ecology and road construction and medicine. I will give you just one number – 4 143 facilities in the republic  have been built, or reconstructed or underwent capital overhaul,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and reminded about M-12 highway built in three years and the going construction of the Alekseyevskoye-Almetyevsk highway to be launched in the end of the current year.

Speaking about Kazan road network, the Rais of Tatarstan reminded about opening the first section of Voznesenskiy Trakt and said: ”The impressions are rather good. The second section of the Trakt will be a toll road but serious investments are needed to complete it. This year we need minimum 25bn rubles to complete two roads – the Gorkovskoye Highway and the Trakt as the city really needs them.”

He also told about work being done in construction of the Kazan Metro and road repair work to be done by the BRICS Games.

Rustam Minnikhanov also informed about all payments into the consolidated budgets and funds at various levels, which made 1.533 trillion rubles in total. “A the same time it is nessesary to take measures concerning arreras, as their total amount in Tatarstan is 11.8bn and in Kazan – 5.4 bn rubles, “ he said.

He also touched the issues of average salaries in the republic, having said that today 48 000 residents of Kazan have salaries that are less that a subsistence wage.

Rustam Minnikhanov gave an errand to Kazan Mayor’s Office to join the process of solving this issue as well as the issue of complaints from residents on utility services. “It is necessary to bring into order the work of managing companies. The Housing Inspection and power bodies should attach serious attention to quality of their work,” he said. 

Touching the issue of public transport services, he said that this is not just the city administration issue but the Ministry of Transport and regional powers should also join into solving it.
