Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov meets President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the Kazan Kremlin

On 22 February in the Kazan Kremlin the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon who arrived to Kazan on 21 February to take part in a ceremony of opening the International Multi-sports Tournament “The Games of the Future”.

Welcoming his guest, Rustam Minnikhanov thanked him for his visit to the republic and for taking part in the opening ceremony of the Games of the Future.

He stressed that cooperation in the sphere of sports including the Games, will become another area on interaction between the countries.

Rustam Minnikhanov stated that Tatarstan makes its contribution into strengthening of Russia-

Tajikistan relations and informed that according to recent information the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Tajikistan makes about 20m US dollars.A number of industrial enterprises deliver their produce to Tajikistan but nevertheless the numbers can be bigger. “We are interested in expanding the presence of Tatarstan companies at the Tajikistan market. In their turn, your companies could also increase their deliveries to the republic,” he said and added that Tatarstan is interested in cooperation in such spheres as petrochemical industry, agriculture, healthcare and IT.

In his turn Emomali Rahmon said: “We are very pleased to be in the well-known capital of Tatarstan. Thank you for a warm welcome and I congratulate you with successfully holding the Games of the Future.”

“Our countries have a sustainable interaction dynamics. We are ready to keep taking necessary measures for developing relations and are interested in investments cooperation, including industry,” the Tajikistan President emphasized and proposed to organize Tajikistan-Tatarstan business forum within the programme of a conference on Russia-Tajikistan cooperation.

In his entry in the Book of Honorary guests, Emomali Rahmon wrote: “It is nice to visit the wonderful city again and the symbol of its multi-centuries history and a unique historical and architectural monument the Kazan Kremlin. I sincerely wish all residents of Tatarstan all the best, well-being and prosperity. May peace and concord rule in every home!”

In the end of the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov handed in Emomali Rahmon the Duslyk Order – the state award of the republic.
