Director General of United Aircraft Corporation Yury Slyusar visited the Gorbunov Kazan Aircraft Plant.
Russian President got acquainted with the information stands about the work of the aircraft plant and looked around four highly modernized Tu-160M strategic missile carriers.
The Tu-160 is the largest in the history of military aviation supersonic aircraft with variable wing geometry, as well as one of the most powerful combat aircraft in the world. Vladimir Putin boarded one of the missile carriers - into the cockpit at the helm. Having learned that the plane did not yet have a name, Putin suggested to name it in honor of the first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev. “He did a lot for all of Russia,” Russian President emphasized.
Today, during his working visit to Kazan, the President of Russia is scheduled to take part in the opening ceremony of the International Multi-sports Tournament “The Games of the Future”.

The Gorbunov Kazan Aircraft Plant – branch of the Tupolev Company – is part of the United Aircraft Corporation of Rostec State Corporation.
