Rustam Minnikhanov discusses issues of support of economy under sanctions with Iranian Minister of Economy Ehsan Khandouzi

On 14 February at their meeting in Tehran, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Iran, and the Minister of Economy and Finances of Iran Ehsan Khandouzi discussed issues of cooperation in the sphere of economy.

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov said: “Today under difficult conditions of the world policy our cooperation gains special value and importance. The continuous meaningful dialogue of our leaders and their reciprocal visits create remarkable conditions for practical agreements at various levels including the interregional one. In its turn Tatarstan is doing everything to actively facilitate this process,” and reminded that last year the Iranian Deputy Minister Mohammad Javad Sharifzadeh visited Tatarstan. “We had meaningful negotiations and he took part in a ceremony of opening a branch of the World of Business Bank, which is an affiliated of the largest Iranian Melli Bank, in Kazan,” he reminded.

At the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov invited Ehsan Khandouzi and a business-delegation from Iran to take part in the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” to be held in Kazan in May 2024.

“Representatives of Iran always work actively at the Forum and take part in the exhibition Russia Halal Expo organized on its sidelines. Another important sphere of our interaction is Islamic finances. Tatarstan is one of pilot regions of Russia carrying out an experiment of introducing principles of partnership-based financing. I am sure that the experience and knowledge of Iran in this sphere could be extremely useful for us,” the Rais of Tatarstan stated.

The Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Iran Aleksey Dedov also took part in the meeting.
