Rustam Minnikhanov tells in his presentation in Iran Foreign Ministry about events to be held within the BRICS summit in Kazan

On 14 February at his meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Ali Bageri and Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Mehdi Safari, who also is an Iranian Sherpa (proxy) in BRICS in Tehran, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Iran, informed that a representative delegation of Tatarstan comprising state officials and businessmen came to Iran and  they are working according to the action-filled business programme in the Province of Isphahan, which tomorrow hosts a business forum Isphahan-Tatarstan with participation of the Governor of the Province Reza Mortazavi.

“Russian Federation and Iran are long-time and close partners united by common vision in solving burning international problems. Under the conditions of a crisis in international relations, cooperation of our countries gains a special value and importance. Leaders of our states keep a continuous dialogue and have reciprocal visits,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and stated that the trade turnover between Iran and Tatarstan grows every year.

“In its turn Tatarstan is trying to make its contribution into development of Russia-Iranian ties. I am always happy to visit your country. We have established a good dialogue both with Tehran and a number of Iranian provinces such as East Azerbaijan, Khorasan-Rezavi, Golestan and others,” he said.

During conversation, Rustam Minnikhanov briefly told about the industrial and investments potential of the republic and main social and economic results of the region and informed about coming international forums and events to be held in Kazan in 2024, including the phygital Games of the Future, the International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum” and the XVI summit of BRICS countries, where Russia presides in 2024. The Rais of Tatarstan stressed that Kazan will host most of 200 BRICS events to be held in Russia, including sport BRICS countries games.

During his conversation with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Mehdi Safari, Rustam Minnikhanov attracted his attention to certain events. “You are Iranian Sherpa (proxy) in BRICS. Your country officially joined the amalgamation on 1 January 2024. Our country, including Tatarstan organizes a number of BRICS events and the summit of BRICS countries to be held in Kazan in October. We are expecting the President of Iran Highly Esteemed Mister Raisi to come to it. I am sure we will interact a lot with you when preparing all these events”, he said and thanked the Deputy Foreign Minister for making this meeting possible.

In his turn Mehdi Safari informed that many years he was the Ambassador of Iran to Russia and deeply respects and understands the Russian Federation.

He also informed that he personally knows and several times met the First President of Tatarstan – the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev and asked Rustam Minnikhanov to pass him words of deep respect and wishes of good health.
