On 13 February during his working trip to Naberezhnyye Chelny, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony of handing in 10 new passenger buses with the capacity of 100 people each to the city.
The vehicles were purchased with the support of the federal center and, speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov stated that the republic attaches special attention to the development of public transport. “Unfortunately, in recent years there are issues of procuring the rolling stock and quality of the passengers’ service. We have a serious big problem being implemented with the support from the federal budget which made it possible for us to change the situation with buses this year,” he said.
The Mayor of Naberezhnyye Chelny Nail Magdeev thanked the administration of the republic for supporting the city and attaching so much attention to such a serious issue. “The programme has been approved, substantial money has been allocated on replacement of the public transport. Naberezhnyye Chelny as a large industrial center of our country is also taking part in this programme. On behalf of grateful residents I would like to thank you for understanding and supporting our city,” he said.
The 10 buses handed in today are first of 90 new buses which will start carrying passengers in Naberezhnyye Chelny by the end of the current year.
