On 9 February the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Russian Minister of Science and Education Valeriy Falkov, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the Day of Russian Science, visited the Institute of History after Sh. Mardjani established in 1996, which is the leading research center for studies in history of Tatars and Tatarstan, Eurasia and Turkic-Tatar civilization.
The Director of the Institute Radik Salikhov told about priority tasks and projects under implementation in the Institute and its ten scientific units.
He informed that one of the most important projects was writing and publishing a seven volume academic work “History of Tatars from the Ancient Times” which was translated into English in 2017. He also told about fundamental works publishes in 2016 and the first volume of the “History of Crimean Tatars” series prepared and published by the Crimea Scientific Center in 2022.
Radik Salikhov also told about scientific and methodic counseling of work in restoration of the Town of Bolgar and the Town-Island of Sviyazhsk and a number of journals and proceedings published by the Institute every year.
The guests were also told about scientific projects of such branches of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences as the Institute of Tatar Encyclopedia and Regional Studies, the Institute of Language, Literature and Art after G. Ibragimov and Institute of Archeology after A. Khalikov.
