On 2 February during his working trip to the Alekseevskoye Settlement, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin accompanied by the Head of Alekseeyevsk region Sergey Demidov took part in a ceremony of opening the Center of Badminton.
Speaking at the ceremony, Aleksey Pesoshin emphasized that the sports complex has become the first facility built by the programme of development of badminton centers in cities and villages of the republic. “Today residents of the region have a landmark day as we are opening a long-awaited specialized center for badminton. The region is one of the leaders in development of this kind of sports in the republic,” he said.
The regional Prime Minister also stated that the administration of the region attaches great attention to issues of developing physical training and sports and thanked construction workers for having implemented the project with high quality and on time “I am sure the new facility will help to involve more people into doing sports and pursuing healthy life style,” he concluded.
In his turn Sergey Demidov said that badminton players of the region have not once won various competitions. Today more than 700 people in the region do badminton, including 196 children from the local sports school, he said.
The center with the total area of 1 500 square meters has a six-court playing gym, four changing rooms for 14 people each and bathrooms and other facilities and is to be used for badminton trainings and sessions and preparation of the Tatarstan badminton reserve team.
