On 1 February at the Kazan Expo, which today is hosting a resulting expanded meeting of the collegium of regional Ministry of Transport and Road Economy, the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony of handing in vehicles to municipalities of the republic.

The ceremony was organized with participation of the Russian Deputy Minister of Transport Vasiliy Desyatkov, the regional Minister of Transport and Road Economy Farit Khanifov, the Chairman of the Association of Municipalities of the republic Ekzam Gubaydullin  and the Director General of the Auto Transport Association State Enterprise Sergey Karpov.

Together with the Federal Government Tatarstan implements measures in transport stock renewing, replacing buses and trolleybuses and opening new routes. All this is aimed at improvement of passengers’ public transportation.

In 2024 the republic will replace 119 old buses, including low-floor ones equipped with gas fueled engines.

In his welcoming speech Rustam Minnikhanov said that today the republic is summarizing work of the transport and road work and added that he hoped new buses will have a positive welcome of population. “I am addressing to Head of regions – just pay attention to the fact how many complaints are related to the work of public transport. Well, here are new buses for you and you must do all organizational work.  Godspeed,” he said.

“Huge amount of work is done in the county and big projects are implemented in our republic. Today at the collegium we will discuss not only our achievements but also the “bottle-necks”. Even though we have serious financial investments and solutions for road economy, there are still many complaints from population concerning work of the public transport. But the administration of the country and President Vladimir Putin himself keep the issue under control. Today due to the federal programme we are handing in 40 buses to regions of the republic and other 79 will be allocated by March this year. I would like to express gratitude to the administration of our country, the Russian Ministry of Transport and Road Economy for the support we get from the Federal Government,” he concluded.
