In his congratulation with the 80th anniversary of lifting the Leningrad Fascist siege, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin wrote: “Dear Tatarstan residents and highly esteemed veterans of the WWII! On behalf of the Tatarstan Government I congratulate you with the 80th anniversary of full freeing of Leningrad from the Fascist siege by Soviet troops.
January 27 is one of the most important dates of the WWII. The 900-day long defense of Leningrad was written down in the history as a symbol of unprecedented courage and resilience of the Motherland defenders. It is one of the most tragic but at the same time dignified and heroic pages of history of our Fatherland.
Today we say words of thanks to those who bought the Victory with their lives and veterans and residents of the sieged Leningrad.”
In conclusion Aleksey Pesoshin thanked veterans for defending freedom and independence of Russia and wished them good health, happiness and prosperity.
