Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in a resulting collegium of the Internal Affairs Ministry for Tatarstan

On 25 January , speaking at an expanded meeting of the Internal Affairs Ministry for Tatarstan held with participation of the State Secretary, Russian Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Zubov, the Chairman of the regional State Council Farit Mukhametshin, the Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that during the last year the criminal situation in Tatarstan was stable due to high professionalism, diligence and dedication of  internal affairs officers.

Summarizing results of the last year, the Acting Internal Minister of Tatarstan Aleksey Sokolov stated that in 2023 the Ministry implemented a number of planned events for fulfilling the state policy of providing and protecting human rights and freedoms, law and order and public safety, ramping up efficiency of using all means and methods available for fighting crime.

He said that law enforcement bodies solved 23 750 cases, including heinous and serious crimes, out of 55 444 registered crimes, brought to criminal responsibility 697 members of organized criminal groups and 110 persons who committed crimes as members of the organized groups and together with Federal Security Service bodies revealed 58 terrorist and 24 extremist crimes. 

Aleksey Sokolov also reported about the number of criminal cases solved in the spheres of IT, illegal circulation of drugs, finances and violation of immigration regulations.

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that despite all challenges Tatarstan continues to go ahead which is the results of well-coordinated work of main economic branches of the republic and close interaction of executive power and law enforcement bodies. 

He reminded about a number of serious political and sports events that the republic will host in the current year and said: “Successful holding of events requires huge preparation work and first of all by the law enforcement bodies.”

Mentioning extremism and fanning national strive, the Rais of the republic said: “Last year the fight against extremist and terrorist crimes was ramped up. It is necessary to monitor and carry out early prevention of inter-ethnic and inter-religious crimes together with other law enforcement bodies.”

He also said that prevention of IT and juvenile crimes remains very important and told to use all reserves and new non-standard forms of preventive work with youth and raise awareness of the population about new kinds of IT crimes and how to counteract them.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that fighting the illegal drug circulation is one of the most important tasks of the internal affairs bodies and said it is necessary to improve preventive interaction with educational, youth, medical and mass media organizations.

Speaking about economic crimes, he said: “Such crimes as the use of illegal gray schemes and embezzlement of public funds, mostly allocated on fulfillment of the defense orders today, must be strictly prevented. It is also important to ensure reliable protection of finances allocated to low-income population and members of the families of the mobilized and military taking part in the special military operation. 

The Rais of Tatarstan also touched issues of migration, ensuring public safety in streets and public places and safe traffic on roads of the republic.

In his turn Igor Zubov gave positive assessment to results of the Ministry operation in the republic. “This is one of our best territorial departments by a number of indicators. The most important is that the population gives the positive assessment to your work. And this gives reason for optimistic conclusions,” he emphasized.

In conclusion of the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov and Igor Zubov handed in a number of Ministerial awards to outstanding officers.
