On 24 January Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of opening XIX All-Russia competitions in fire-rescue sports for the Cup of the Tatarstan Prime Minister, held in the gym of the Chief Department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for Tatarstan with participation of 16 teams from Volga Federal District and St Petersburg, Orenburg, Tyumen and Sverdlovsk regions, Republic of Komi and Perm and Maritime regions.
The tournament which started in 2004 is carried out in three kinds of competitions – an assault course, a hook latter and snatch, and speaking at the ceremony, Aleksey Pesoshin emphasized that the competitions are a real fest of professional technical and applied sports.
“The fire-rescue sports is not just courage, strength, agility and endurance but also ability to work in team and readiness at any moment to help people in trouble. It is not just sport but a part of professional training and that is why it will always be in demand,” the regional Prime Minister said.
He stated that Tatarstan has created a remarkable sports infrastructure which makes it possible to decently represent our country at any level of competitions and the republic attaches great attention to development of fire-rescue sports.
“Tatarstan fire and rescue units take part in Russian and international tournaments and many times have won various competitions. I am sure that today’s championship will also become an impetus for further sports and professional achievements,” Aleksey Pesoshin concluded.
