On 30 December, in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Nigmatullin held a meeting of the Commission on Prevention and Mitigation of Emergencies and Provision of Fire Safety, where he said: “Today on an errand from the Rais of the republic we are holding an unscheduled meeting of the Commission dedicated to readiness of labour forces and means for providing safety during New Year holidays. I ask all responsible officials to provide continuous monitoring of the situation. Persons on duty in cities and regions should be constantly in touch and all services - on high alert regime. Nothing should spoil the fest to our residents.”
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Head of the Chief Directorate of Russian Emergencies Ministry for Tatarstan Igor Dragunov informed about the capacity of the department, adding that more than 2 thousand employees and more than 1 thousand units of machinery will be on the 24-hour duty from 29 December to 9 January.
He also reported about 1 299 fire safety checks of facilities for centralized visits of children and preventive measures taken at all social sphere facilities, such as hospitals, senior houses and others.
Deputy Head of the Public Order Department of Russian Internal Ministry for Tatarstan Aleksandr Gerasimov reported that more than 1 500 policemen will be on duty at night on 31 December to 1 January and about 900 policemen – at Orthodox Christmas at night from 6 to 7 January.
Reporting about readiness of all housing utilities services under extreme weather conditions, the regional Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Aleksey Frolov said that all organizational measures have been taken. “We do not see any risks,” he emphasized.
