On 21 December a meeting of the regional Commission on Prevention and Mitigation of Emergencies and Fire Prevention held in the Government House of the republic by Tatarstan First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Nigmatullin with all municipalities taking part in it via video conference, discussed measures on providing comprehensive safety of population during New Year and Christmas celebrations.
Participants of the meeting stated that the New Year celebration is one of the most tense and dangerous periods of time when the risk of various accidents and crime is very high. Many people forget about safety rules, living electric appliances unattended and firing fireworks in wrong places.
The New Year is the most fire prone holiday as last year there were 85 fires killing four people during New Year and Christmas celebrations time, and 6 people including two kids got injuries when launching fireworks.
Rustam Nigmatullin told about the Decree of the regional Cabinet of Ministers which introduces a special fire-proof regime in Tatarstan from 25 December 2023 till 8 January 2024 and informed about organization and practical measures taken for prevention of fire and injuries from fireworks.
He also reminded that the increased number of guests and residents of the republic spend time in the open air and told about activities of law enforcement bodies for providing public order and safety last year
Participants of the meeting also discussed cases of people falling under ice on water bodies of the republic with 6 people already dead because of that and listened to information about meteorological conditions during the holidays.
