On 19 December at their meeting held at the Kazan Federal University, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and rectors of universities and scientific institutions located in the republic summarized results of joint work in 2023 and set forth plans for the next year.
Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov said that such meetings on the New Year’s Eve have become a good tradition. “Great changes are going on in the higher education system today. Everybody has understood that education is the only way to be competitive and self-sufficient. There are no any other ways. This year our universities have done great work. An important achievement of the departing year is that advanced engineering schools will be established at two more universities, namely Almetyevsk Oil Institute and Kazan Aircraft University. In the whole Tatarstan universities have a huge potential and it is necessary to go ahead together,” he emphasized.
The Chairman of the Council of rectors of the republic Lenar Safin, who is the Rector of the Kazan Federal University, stated that the key project for universities development is “The Priority 2030” and told about regional universities who get grants by this project. He also informed about work in development of universities infrastructure by improving living conditions for students who come to study from other cities and educational facilities built in Almetyevsk, Nizhnekamsk and Mendeleyevsk.
The President of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Rifkat Minnikhanov told participants of the meeting about main issues of regional scientific and technological development and their solutions, and the Director of the Kazan Scientific Center of Russian Academy of Sciences Aleksey Kalachev informed about priority spheres of the Center further development.
