On 16 December, speaking at a regional meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that opening of the M-12 highway is a milestone event for our country and the republic as never before in history of Russia such infrastructural facilities were built in such a short period of time.
He emphasized that opening of the highway is of great importance for the whole of the country as it will make it possible to strengthen connection between regions, raise the transport accessibility and use tourist opportunities more efficiently.
“Words of gratitude to the administration of the country and first of all to our President Vladimir Putin, the Government of Russia and to the supervisor of all construction sites Marat Khusnullin. It was in a difficult period that the decision to build the highway was made and finances were found. The new highway, the total length of which in Tatarstan is 142 kilometers, connects five large centers of the country, namely Moscow, Vladimir and Nizhniy Novgorod regions and Chuvashia and Tatarstan. The М-12 gives access to the network of speed highways in the European part of our country. This project made it possible for us to get the long-awaited bridge across the Volga with the length of 3.3 kilometers, which is a unique bridge construction,” the Rais of the republic said.
He also attracted attention to the fact that large work is being done in construction of the M-7 highway, namely a bridge across the Kama, bypass of Nabrezhnyye Chelny and Nizhnekamsk and widening the highway to Bashkortostan.
The construction of the M-12 highway is carried out within the national project “Transport Infrastructure Modernization” which was initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2019.
