Rustam Minnikhanov at a meeting of Tatarstan Cabinet of Minister on traffic safety: The priority is to preserve as many people’s lives as possible

On 14 December, speaking at a meeting of the Cabinet of Minister of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin as a videoconference with all municipalities of the republic and dedicated to measures of increasing the traffic safety, decreasing the number of car accidents and mitigation of seriousness of their consequences in the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that implementation of systemic measures made it possible to decrease the traffic accidents in the republic and the priority is to preserve as many people’s lives as possible.

He emphasized that despite the increase of the number of vehicles, the traffic accidents number decreases, which is the result of big systemic work carried out by all departments and especially mentioned the work of the Traffic Safety Commissions in regions and the Traffic Police.

Having shown a slide with information about the number of traffic accidents in various years, starting from 2013, the Rais of Tatarstan said there are two main spheres to pay special attention to, namely crossing into oncoming traffic and the pedestrian knockdown. He also gave an errand to use drones for monitoring road sections with the highest accidents rate.

He also said that it is necessary to develop basics of safe traffic behavior with children and put things right in using scooters and motorcycles on roads.

Summarizing the results, Rustam Minnikhanov said that large work is done in providing traffic safety and in the whole the situation is improving. “We discuss the situation with traffic accidents every day. It is necessary to monitor it, “he said.

The Rais of the republic thanked representatives of all related Ministries and departments for their work and handed in awards to best municipal traffic safety commissions and winners of the mobile app “I am a school child” regional competition.
